Kew Sparkle 2022

The village lights were sparkling, the choirs singing, the Thames TV Big Band playing and the crowds revelling in the variety of Christmas cheer and entertainment on offer at this year’s Kew Sparkle!

The cold evening air encouraged long queues at many outlets providing grown-up hot drinks, including mulled wine and hot gin toddies, and a fantastic variety of international street food from Colombia, Greece, France and Italy was served to the hungry crowds.

The evening was packed – both with people and entertainment. The hugely tall Snow King and Queen stiltwalkers returned this year by popular demand; the petting farm animals brought squeals of joy from children as they got close up to the chickens, sheep, goats, and even a donkey! Santa and his Elves were in their magical grotto welcoming a never-ending stream of younger visitors, and the funfair rides were spinning all evening to capacity.

Artisan stallholders offered a fantastic array of handmade gifts, making it easy to get your Christmas shopping done! Several independent Kew Village traders remained open for the evening and held fundraising activities for this year’s official charity, A Dose of Nature, which promotes the mental health benefits of engaging with the natural world. The committee is pleased to confirm that a total of £2850 has been raised as a result of this year’s event!

We would like to thank the local community for their enormous support, as well as our sponsors Kew Gardens Hotel and Dig, the local primary schools, volunteers on the night, stallholders, and local businesses. See you at Kew Sparkle 2023 on Friday 1st December!
